Shiqiao Feng
Home Department: French & Italian

Shiqiao Feng is a Ph.D. student in Comparative Literary Studies with a home department in French and Italian. His primary research interest includes the literary modernism in Western Europe, principally in France and Britain, with a theoretical focus on post-structuralism and critical theories. He is also broadly interested in the study of the 19th-century and early 20th-century novel in an effort to explore how certain aspects in modernist masterpieces (e.g. memories and trauma, the representation of the visual world, the formal innovations to the genre, etc.) take roots in earlier works.
Shiqiao received his B.A. in Comparative Literature from Reed College, and graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He did his senior thesis on a comparative study of the concept of the Bildungsroman in the novels of Gustave Flaubert and James Joyce.
