Kshitija Chavan (Coral) graduated with a BA Honors (Cum Laude) and a Postgraduate Diploma (Summa Cum Laude) in English from Ashoka University. Their postgraduate thesis received the Best Thesis Award 2022 from the Department of English at Ashoka University. With an emphasis on anti-caste scholarship, they study how material experiences of caste are narrativized through literature and the role of language and translation in mobilizing intersectional, political solidarities. They also examine the role of form, narrative, and literary techniques in constructing a brahmanical gaze in literary works of fiction and non-fiction. They are particularly interested in Marathi, Hindi, and English literature. They have translated, edited, and contributed to “Towards A Dalit Structure of Archiving”, an anthology of narratives by the Samata Kala Manch, an anti-caste cultural resistance troupe. They were also a collaborator in the "Anti-Caste Alphabets" project.
